Frequently Asked Questions
What are the two personalized pediatric care options at Kids Central Pediatrics?
Kids Central Pediatrics offers two personalized care options through our Oak Ridge clinic: KCP Care and Concierge Membership. KCP Care is a membership-based pediatric care model designed for families who want predictable monthly costs and enhanced access to in-office pediatric care. Concierge Membership is an added support and convenience option for families who want priority communication, scheduling support, and a more streamlined experience while continuing to use their existing insurance for medical services.
What is KCP Care?
KCP Care is a membership-based pediatric care option that includes unlimited in-office well visits and sick visits, routine office-based labs and point-of-care testing, chronic disease management, care coordination, after-hours telephone guidance, and telemedicine when clinically appropriate. This option is designed for families who do not have traditional health insurance or who participate in a cost-sharing plan and want more predictable pediatric care costs.
What is Concierge Membership?
Concierge Membership is a convenience and communication-focused membership that works alongside your existing insurance plan. Families receive benefits such as priority check-in, priority scheduling for non-urgent appointments, a dedicated VIP phone line, communication support from a dedicated VIP nurse, extended visit time, same-day response support, and access to helpful parenting and educational resources. Medical services are still billed through your insurance carrier.
What is the main difference between KCP Care and Concierge Membership?
The biggest difference is how medical care is handled. KCP Care includes many routine pediatric care services within the membership and is not billed through insurance for covered sick visits or urgent care services. Concierge Membership does not replace insurance billing. It adds convenience, priority access, communication support, and enhanced service while medical visits, diagnoses, and treatments continue to be billed through your insurance plan.
Do I still need health insurance if I choose KCP Care?
Yes. KCP Care is not a replacement for full health insurance. Families should still maintain health insurance or another form of coverage for emergency care, hospital services, specialists, imaging, surgery, prescriptions, and other services outside the scope of routine pediatric primary care.
Can I use Concierge Membership with my current health insurance?
Yes. Concierge Membership is designed for families who want enhanced access and support without changing their current insurance structure. Your child’s medical care continues to be provided by Kids Central Pediatrics and billed through your insurance carrier, while the membership adds priority communication, scheduling support, and convenience-based benefits.
Which option is better for families without insurance?
KCP Care may be a strong fit for families without traditional health insurance or families who participate in a healthcare cost-sharing plan. It provides a more predictable monthly cost for many routine pediatric primary care needs. However, families should still consider separate coverage for emergencies, specialists, hospital care, and services not included in the membership.
Which option is better for busy families who already have insurance?
Concierge Membership may be the better fit for families who already have health insurance but want a more convenient pediatric care experience. It is especially helpful for parents who value priority scheduling, easier communication, reduced wait time, same-day response support, and additional parenting guidance.
Are these programs available at every Kids Central Pediatrics location?
No. KCP Care and Concierge Membership are currently available only through the Kids Central Pediatrics Oak Ridge clinic.
Which providers participate in these personalized care options?
These care options are currently available through the Oak Ridge clinic with Dr. Clifford James and Melvin D. Sisco, PA-C.
What happens if my provider is on vacation or out of the office?
If your provider is unavailable, another on-call concierge healthcare provider will help provide coverage and guidance so your family continues to have support.
Can I switch between KCP Care and Concierge Membership?
Yes. If your family’s needs change, our team can help you review your options and determine whether KCP Care or Concierge Membership is the better fit moving forward.
How do I know which option is right for my family?
The best option depends on your family’s insurance situation, budget preferences, access needs, and how much additional support you want from your pediatric care team. KCP Care may be a better fit if you want predictable membership-based pediatric care. Concierge Membership may be better if you want enhanced access and communication while keeping your existing insurance plan.
